A little history
Lad Koh was originally a natural scenic spot known mainly to locals and a few adventurous travellers. As Koh Samui grew into a tourism destination in the late 20th century, the viewpoint became a regular stop for tour buses and independent visitors. The Thai word 'lad' means 'beach' and 'koh' means 'island', so the name translates loosely to 'Beach Island Viewpoint', fitting for the coastal scene it overlooks. Over time, a securely railed platform and parking spaces were added to make the viewpoint safer and more accessible.
